Aisles was formed in 2001 by Germán Vergara (guitar, vocals), his brother Luis (keyboards), and childhood friend Rodrigo Sepúlveda (guitar, vocals). Alejandro Meléndez, originally from Brazil, joined the band in 2002. When looking for lead singers, the band asked Germán and Luis' younger brother, Sebastián, to record a demo with the intent of auditioning prospective lead singers but, surprised by his vocal skills, asked him to be their permanent vocalist. The band's first line up was then complete.

After playing gigs at local clubs and bars, the band entered the studio in 2003 with the aim of recording its first demo for promotional purposes, but having achieved such a high quality of sound and interpretation decided to release that effort as their first full-length album. The Yearning (2005) was mixed and mastered over a span of ten weeks, and was subsequently released and distributed in South America, Europe, the United States, and Japan receiving generally positive reviews by specialized press. Françoise Couture of Allmusic wrote "The Yearning, Chilean band Aisles' first calling card, is a convincing disc of South American-flavored neo-progressive rock. Nothing gets reinvented. But the lads clearly know what they are doing", while Conor Fines of Prog Sphere stated "based on its own merits, Aisles' The Yearning is a very good debut. Melody, strong songwriting, admirable performances, and enough details in the music to be worth going back to quite a few times makes the album an unlikely winner."

With four studio albums and a career spanning twelve years, Aisles have become South America's most acclaimed prog act of the last decade. Their daring combination of rock, fusion, jazz and world music illustrates the band's uniquely liberal and eclectic approach. The group has played in South America and Europe, and their albums have been published in Europe, the Americas, and Japan.

In 2009, their second album, 'In Sudden Walks', was nominated for Best Foreign Record in the Italian Prog Awards and the group was invited to open the 11th Progressive Rock Festival Crescendo in France. Their third album, '4:45 AM' (2013) was widely acclaimed worldwide and was chosen among the best albums of that year in a number of specialized publications. 'Hawaii' (July, 2016), their fourth studio album was called a "masterpiece" and named one of the albums of the year by media outlets such as Prog (England), Neoprog (France), Raw Ramp (England) and Chile's premiere rock magazine, Rockaxis.

Hawaii (2016 Double conceptual album inspired on a post apocalyptic narration about human colonies established in space after the destruction of the Earth. Its twelve tracks explore the dilemmas and challenges that the individual and the human spirit would face in this futuristic scenario. Hawaii has been called a "masterpiece" and named one of the albums of the year by media outlets such as Prog (England), Neoprog (France), Raw Ramp (England) and Chile's premiere rock magazine, Rockaxis.

4.45 AM (2013) 4:45 AM is the third album by the Chilean prog-rock band Aisles, released in October 2013. A concept album, it is a highly melodic mixture of classic prog elements, rock riffs, fusion, and world-music flavors in a compelling, dark atmosphere. "4:45 AM is nothing short of a masterwork of art. It is the reason people fall in love with music in the first place". Prog Rock Music Talk.

In Sudden Walks (2009) Aisles continue their sonic exploration with In Sudden Walks, an album that ranges from catchy rock hooks and emotive ballads to deep, intricate instrumental passages. The album was nominated for Best Foreign Records in the 2009 edition of the Prog Awards (Italy).

The Yearning (2005) The debut album by prog-rock fusionists Aisles, released in August 2005. The Yearning is an ambitiously crafted album, taking elements from progressive rock, jazz and folk to create a unique mixture fans of avant-garde music cannot miss. One of the genre's best debut albums in recent years.
