Featured Artist.....17/November/2017 'Francesca Brown'

Genre; Americana Roots - Home Town; Los Angeles

Francesca Brown is a singer songwriter in Los Angeles, her music is an Americana blend of folk, rock and blues, with a diverse blend of musical genres and subject matter drawing from her shared Illinois and California roots.

About me...

As a child I was always encouraged to listen and dance to whatever music was available. Being that my mother was from northern Illinois and very much into the blues, I spent a lot of time at outdoor festivals and got to see some really awesome music... and sometimes only really awesome mullets.  My childhood was split between California and Illinois, which were two very different places in many ways.  I suppose this sort of contrast has always made me feel like two different people, a little bit country, a little bit bluesy, a little bit weird.

My late teens to early twenties were a time where I truly found the music I had been searching for my whole life.  During this time I listened to a lot of Bob Dylan and other inspiring artists such as Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams,  Loretta Lynn, and Joni Mitchell.

Music is and always will be a big part of my life, but even more so is being an artist.  I truly believe that life should be lived as your own artistic masterpiece, and that is what my music is, a sort of personal journal meets fantasy.

Born in San Clemente, California, Francesca spent much of her childhood moving back and forth between Illinois and all around southern California. Some of her earliest and fondest childhood memories were spent in the California desert. It was here where she remembers falling in love with desert landscapes, a simplistic way of life and the surrounding snow capped San Jacinto Mountains.

From around the age of nine through high school she resided in Illinois. It was rural in many ways, but close enough to cities like Chicago and Madison to be exposed to great music. Attending music festivals and concerts with her mother and siblings, seeing artists such as BB King, Lonnie Brooks, Buddy Guy, Little Richard and The Smashing Pumpkins to name a few, was a regular part of her life growing up.

After graduating from high school, she attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. After only two semesters she realized the east coast was not the right fit, and so she took a Greyhound bus back to Chicago. It wasn't long before she would finally return to California, but this time on her own as an adult residing in Los Angeles.

Francesca still resides in Los Angeles where she continues to make music.
